With a vision to be a Signature fundraising program for food banks, the thINK
FOOD / Phones-for-Food project stands out amoung the growing number of inkjet
cartridge and cell phone recycling-fundraising options available in Canada.
- The first of it’s kind: thINK FOOD
/ Phones-for-Food has the distinction of being the first National
program of it’s kind in Canada. With an established infrastructure
across the country it is available for all Canadians to participate
in.
- Custom designed and exclusively operated for food
banks: While almost all other collection programs
are provided as fundraising opportunities by a single recycling
company to multiple charities, thINK FOOD / Phones-for-Food
originated inside local food banks and wasdesigned exclusively to address their
specific resource and messaging needs. The project is developed and operated
by the Canadian Association
of Food Banks.
- Getting the most for food banks: Thanks
to Sponsors and the support of collection sites, the thINK
FOOD / Phones-for-Food project is able to generate more per
item directly back to food banks than similar programs.
- More than raising funds: While the primary
goal of thINK FOOD / Phones-for-Food is to raise new funds
for food banks and divert waste, the project also provides
public education on these issues and inspires recycling behaviour.
- Genuine partnerships: The project relies
on all partners for success. This includes everyone from the
collection sites, to the National
Sponsors & Partners, to the volunteers across the country and the local
food banks themselves. It is this collective effort and the sharing of resources
that makes the project possible and gives it long-term stability.
- Building credibility:Project integrity and recognition is strengthened by attention to opportunities
such as award achievements and developing appropriate partnerships and networks.
